About the exhibition

Hajnal Németh's exhibition titled Joe Contra Joe is a complex installation, based on quotations: a quotation from a soldier's tomb, the contrasted, prosaic quotation of two well-known songs (Imagine, Paint It Black), and the bizarre evocation of the title and the introductory part of a film trilogy (Warhol – Morissey:Trilogy). Although the work is based on contrasts, it sheds light on the identity of empty phrases.

Hajnal Németh was nominated for this year’s the Hungarian AVIVA Prize as well as the international Nam June Paik Prize established by the North-Rhein Westfalen Art Foundation.
